Understanding the Nature and Identity of the Lord: A Spiritual Exploration

Hi friends! We've talked about the importance of truly knowing who God is—not just in theory, but deep in our hearts. It’s one thing to hear “God is love” or “God is compassionate,” but it’s another to sit with those truths and ask:

“What does this mean?”Even asking, “What does is mean?” can lead to deeper understanding. God is—present, real, constant. And His character is the foundation of our faith.

This week, let’s take it deeper. Let’s focus on meditating on the Word of God and the nature of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 1 says:"But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."Psalm 1:2-3 (NIV)

The bread of life.

When we meditate on God’s Word, we are being nourished. No wonder Jesus constantly used metaphors like manna, bread, and living water—He is our sustenance. Studying the life and teachings of Jesus using both inductive and deductive reasoning reveals:

  1. Jesus fulfills the Law, not replaces it (Matthew 5:17).

  2. He consistently points back to Scripture as truth.

  3. His core message is love—love God and love others (Matthew 22:37–39).

The Kingdom of God begins with love in the heart and grows into love in action. Why? Because Jesus came to reconcile us to the Father—to restore us to God's original intent: Love, purpose, joy, peace, patience, kindness (look to Galatians 5 and the early books of Genesis).

As Ephesians 2:10 reminds us,"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

And in Psalm 8:4, the psalmist asks,"What is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him?"

God sees you. He knows you. He desires relationship with you, even if you are confused or don’t want it yourself. So this week, take time to plant that truth in your heart, and then share it with a loved one!

Application:

  • Meditate on Sunday and today’s messages (mostly scripture).

  • Journal how it made you feel.

  • Ask God: “What does this mean for me?”

  • Pray:“God, please give me understanding (James 1:5). Fill me with truth. Make both my spirit and my flesh open to receiving Your Word. Kill anything in me that resists You. Amen.”

Let this week be one where your roots grow deeper in Him. 🌿
