Are you cheating on the Lord? Let’s be honest we’ve all been guilty of this, but the truth is anything that resembles your old life is too close to death.
Colossians 1 tells us we’ve been rescued from the kingdom of darkness and brought into the kingdom of light. To remain in this light, we must choose to live holy lives.
In Matthew 5:29, Jesus teaches about adultery, saying, “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”
What does this mean? First, on a practical level, don’t cheat on your marriages.
Second—adultery is rooted in a desire of the heart and it also speaks to our relationship with Christ.
We are married to Him through the covenant of His blood.
So anything that tempts us to turn away from Him- even in the slightest- must be thrown away.
This is what it means to worship with our whole being—to submit fully to Him through our hearts, minds, and actions
I encourage you to meditate on this hard truth. Take a moment to reflect: What in your life might you need to “gouge out” to stay close to God?
