How can we remain encouraged when we feel overlooked by God?

Hi friends! As January unfolds, it’s clear this new year has already brought many changes and challenges in the world around us. For some, it’s a season of excitement and new beginnings, while for others, it may feel like trials and tribulations continue without pause.

But take heart—God sees all. As we read through Proverbs (or begin), we’re reminded of this truth. The Bible says: “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with Him” (Proverbs 11:1). Throughout Proverbs, we see God’s deep concern for justice and care for the poor, the weak, and the hurting.

He also calls us to live wisely and guard our words: “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). This is a reminder to speak life into every situation, trusting that even when God seems silent, He is always working behind the scenes.

Don’t grow weary in doing good! “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up(Galatians 6:9).

Two verses from Proverbs that have deeply encouraged me are:

The one who guards a fig tree will eat its fruit, and whoever protects their master will be honored(Proverbs 27:18). This reminds us that diligence and faithfulness in our work and service lead to blessings.

And “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart(Proverbs 27:19). This challenges us to examine what our lives reflect—are our hearts aligned with God?

What do all of these things have in common? He has you. If you say that you believe in the God of the universe, then you have to take authority with the scripture.
