I hope you’ve embraced the Wisdom Challenge in the book of Proverbs. Today, let’s dive deeper into Proverbs 8, which beautifully describes what wisdom truly is.

We often use words without fully grasping their meaning. By definition, wisdom is:The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.

But what does wisdom look like in God’s Word? Let’s explore:

“The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;I was formed long ages ago,at the very beginning, when the world came to be.When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water;before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth.I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then I was constantly at his side.I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.”(Proverbs 8:22-31, NIV)

This passage shows us that wisdom is woven into creation itself—co-creating with God. Wisdom was present at the beginning of all things, just as John 1 reminds us that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God.

Wisdom is part of who God is. While it isn’t the Holy Spirit, it leads us to truth, reflects God’s principles, and helps us make decisions aligned with His will.

So, why pursue wisdom? Because when you seek wisdom, you seek God.

Let this week be a time to reflect on the beauty of wisdom as a gift from God. And remember, it’s not enough to simply know about wisdom—let’s live it.

Blessings,
